This past week was full of such sweetness and overflowing joy. My team got the opportunity to run a kids camp this week with kids from the community. Each day one of us got to share the Gospel up front, we played games with them, and we danced a lot together. Albanians loooooove dancing!
I wasn’t sure how many people to expect when we first started. I was humbled the first day when around 60-70 kids between the ages of two and eighteen bounded through the doors. Here in Kotodesh, Albania, the kids summer is wrapping up and the first month of school which ends at the end of the month is optional for them.
As there aren’t many things outside of school for kids to engage with, they all showed up eager for a place to be.
My favorite thing about this camp and ultimately the Kingdom of God is that a place to be is exactly what people show up to. A place to just be. A place to be exactly as they were created.
We were created to love and to be loved, and that’s the simple Gospel.
“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” (Ephesians 3:18-19)
In a place where all we had was people, music, and open space, I saw full life being experienced. I saw kids that heard the Gospel preached to them, and paired it with the simple invitation to live life in a full way.
Laughter of children, dancing with full abandon, seeking to understand beyond language barriers, I think that’s a little picture of how is ought to be.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
