What’s up, friends!?

 

I’m glad you’re here!  My name is Courtney Rodgers and I am so excited for the opportunity to go on the World Race!  On this page I’m supposed to talk a little bit about who I am.  So, when I’m getting to know someone I feel like I learn a whole lot more about who they are when I ask about the things they love before I ask about the things they do, so I’m going to start with the love stuff!

 

I love hiking and being outside: I come from a family of campers who have inadvertently raised me up to love and appreciate the outdoors.  I have a need to be outside!

 

I love good desserts and ice cream, lots and lots of ice cream: I eat ice cream a lot.

 

I love getting a good deal on a rotisserie chicken: those things can feed me for like 2 weeks!  It’s the simple things really.

 

I love laughing really hard: When people make me laugh really hard, I pee my pants sometimes. Any other questions?

 

I LOVE spending time with my friends and the people I love: Disclosure; there are few things more exciting to me than a reunion with a friend I haven’t seen in a while.  I’m a sap, I can’t help it, and I will love my friends until I die.

 

I love doing things that bring me peace and remind me Whose I am: Biking, deep porch conversations, playing the guitar.  I’m a sucker for good music and people who share a love of music.  I’m definitely not crazy talented at music or anything but hey we use what we’re given, right!? 

 

Lastly for this list,

I love real conversations: I like talking about questions I don’t know the answer to, about how the design of the world screams of a Creator, about who people are and what God has to say about them, and I like talking to and about people and groups of people that don’t get seen a lot, and I like dreaming about how all of those people could come to know hope in HIM!

 

Now for what I do!

            I’m 21 years old and am currently finishing up my Senior year at Towson University.  I live in an apartment with two of my best friends in the whole world, (shout out to Kelli and Meg!) and I’m an Elementary Education and Special Education major, spending the year student teaching.  I love kiddos and getting the chance to teach them has been both challenging and rewarding.

            I also lifeguard at the YMCA on the weekends which I’ve been doing for years and I surprisingly love!

Lastly, another huge part of my life is the ministry of Young Life.  Young Life is a ministry that focuses on relationships and ministering to young people.  I met the Lord through this ministry in 2014 and during my college years have had the privilege to be a Young Life leader myself at a local high school.  Serving in this ministry has to date been one of the biggest things that has shaped my faith; putting me in uncomfortable situations, allowing me to share my faith, and meeting kids, families, and other leaders that have all pushed me in different ways to step out in my faith and experience God firsthand.

 

That about sums it up for now!
